At
present various sections of the archive (not in possession of SNGMA)
are stored in inadequate and temporary spaces in Edinburgh. They
need to be
housed all under one roof in a spacious and secure new home. The Demarco
Gallery does not have the funding even to rent adequate premises,
so the very generous commitment by Johnny and Sandra Watson, owners
of
Skateraw,
is a godsend. They are totally convinced of the importance to Scotland
of Richard’s work. The newly built 9000 sq. ft insulated grain store
is not only a store but also a great exhibition space. Award winning architect
Malcolm Fraser has already inspected the site and will be able to advise
us on the ‘fitting out’ requirements.
